NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device Review

nu_face_trinity_reviewA “5 Minute Facial” is the quote featured prominently on the Nuface Trinity box, and the thing that initially drew me to this fascinating device. In just a few minutes a day, NuFace promised  they could deliver younger looking, vibrant skin with less wrinkles.

So, what was this magical device that was behind these insane claims? Let’s find out!

NuFace Trinity is a handheld device that uses microcurrents to stimulate the facial muscles. Microcurrent facials, also known as the “natural facial”, use extremely low voltage electrical currents to improve the facial contour and tone the muscles.

Microcurrent therapy can be thought of as exercise for your face – the microcurrents work just like electrical signals from your brain. The currents stimulate the facial muscles and lead to stronger muscles.

Reproducing the body’s own electrical current in this way also leads to the establishment of muscle memory – meaning your muscles will return to this toned, youthful state quicker and stay there longer after each treatment.

This stimulation also activates the cells in the skin to repair themselves, leading to clearer, brighter skin.

Microcurrents are extremely safe – they have been cleared by the FDA and have been used in dermatology since the 1980s. The therapy is also effective on all skin types.

Studies have shown a microcurrent facial can increase collagen production up to 14%, elastin increases 48% and blood circulation goes up to 38%.

Back in the day, you would have to go into a clinic to receive this treatment, but the NuFace Trinity brings this powerful treatment right into your home.

NuFace Benefits

  • Visibly improve the facial contour
  • Visibly tones facial muscles
  • Evens skin tone
  • Reduces the appearance on fine lines and wrinkles
  • Younger, tighter skin just minutes after treatment

The NuFace Trinity kit comes with the actual device, the microcurrent attachment, the primer gel (a 2 Oz bottle) and a charging cradle and power adapter.

The device has a modular design that lets you exchange out different treatment attachements, such as the Trinity Wrinkle Remover (which utilizes red light therapy) and others.

One popular attachment is the ELE attachment, https://www.mynuface.com/products/trinity-ele-attachment, which targets the eyebrow furrows, crow’s feet and smile lines to produce fairly incredible results around the eye and lip area. The two prongs make it much easier to reach these areas.

From SkinStore.com, you also receive a 1 year warranty!

The Trinity features dual spheres at the front of the device and are designed to provide maximum contact with the skin. The device is extremely soft on the skin, and the microcurrent level can be adjusted for comfort.

According to an ENGAGE clinical study, which is refereced on their main site, the Trinity delivered remarkable results. 85% of users experienced improvements in facial contour, 80% said their skin felt smoother, 77% of users reported their face looks more toned, and 73% of users experienced improvements in skin tone. 22.2% noticed a decrease in the number of wrinkles on the face.

I could not find the study online, but I found that it was presented at the NuFace booth during the 2012 American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting. According to promotional literature, the NuFace Trinity is the only handheld, microcurrent device clinically tested to improve facial countour, facial skin tone and reduce the number of wrinkles.

In just 5 minutes, you can notice

  • Reduction in pore size
  • Less noticeable wrinkles and fine lines
  • Taunter, tighter skin

The only other real player in the at home microcurrent facial game is CACI Microlift. This device works in practically the same way, by utilizing microcurrents to contour facial muscles. The CACI has four prongs instead of the two balls the Trinity has, and these prongs are topped with a specially designed cotton that is presoaked in serum for a smooth glide.

Instead of changing heads like the Trinity, the CACI has different settsing for different parts of the face and neck. I personally like both devices and think they are both great at what they do. The CACI is better if you are looking for an “all in one” type solution, that will give you overall great results. The Trinity is, in my opinion, the more powerful of the two because of the optional extra attachements you can purchase.

Basic Process on How to Use

The NuFace Trinity uses a special primer gel to provide conductivity for the microcurrents. The entire process is simple and only takes 5 – 10 minutes if you are looking for a quick session. There is also a 15 minute advanced routine.

  1. Wash your face thoroughly, rid the skin of dirt and oil (oil-free cleansers are recommended)
  2. Apply the NuFACE Gel Primer in a mask-like layer in sections as you are treating the skin with the device.
  3. Smooth the device over your skin, using 3 passes for each exercise

Overall, the Trinity is an amazing addition to your beauty regimen. It is a little pricey, but considering the money you would save if you were to receive this treatment in a doctors office and the power of this device, I would say the price is well worth it if youthful skin is important to you.
